PropertyOfZack Interview // There For Tomorrow

Maika Maile of There For Tomorrow stopped by New York City not too long ago and PropertyOfZack was lucky enough to grab a few minutes of his time. Maika and I discussed the band’s new record, The Verge, the writing process for it, faults on the band’s last record, future touring, and more. Read up and enjoy!

It was announced just a few weeks ago that The Verge would be released on June 28^th. How has the general excitement from fans been since then?
It’s been really good. I think it’s been a long time coming for people to have anything new from There For Tomorrow. We’ve been a little bit mysterious; they knew we were recording an album and they were very in touch with what we were doing because we like to keep communication alive, but as soon as we announced that it triggered up a fire about “June 28^th.”

The record is obviously coming out on Hopeless, but the roster and family of bands on the label has really immensely grown in the last year or so. What’s it like being on that label?
They’ve brought in a bunch of different bands and have kind of regenerated what they’ve done, especially with Yellowcard and Silverstein. They definitely escalated what they have going on because when we signed it was just us, All Time Low, and Anarbor at the time who were doing much. Man, Hopeless has does a lot and I never put it past them. They’ve done great things for everybody.

What does the title mean to the band?
The way we did this record was really special. It was totally different from how we had done things in the past. We wrote the record in a week just because of this inspiration we had from touring for the past few years and learning everything we did from releasing our first record and how it translated to people. Basically we met our producer, recorded it in town, and wrote the record in a week live as a band in a room together. We just felt like we let go of everything and that there’s this new energy and the creative flow was so intent. We felt that the sound was completely us and we were on the verge of this new era of There For Tomorrow with who we actually are. That’s kind of where we’re at; we’re on the verge and the fringe of this amazing thing.
